The project aims to equip the inmates with abilities for social reinsertion, by training them in niche eco-crafts that grant them a competitive advantage. Moreover, the project aims to raise awareness of the public opinion regarding the reintegration opportunities of former inmates.

The inmates are trained in ecological craftsmanship and participate at building houses, at Grindul Tătaru, a section of the Chilia Penitentiary. The houses host eco-workshops, where detainees learn the following crafts: house building, carpentry, wicker weaving, pottery, eco-agriculture.

The project relies on three pillars:
  • education (by organizing training courses in crafts for inmates with scarce education or with deprived background),
  • developing sustainable infrastructure by constructing traditional houses with materials and processes that are particular to the Delta area, which are to be further used as locations to host the workshops for carpentry, wicker weaving, pottery, eco-agriculture and
  • raising public awareness about the inmates, their situation and opportunities (mainly by organizing awareness events, as well as triggering a societal response and community involvment).
